Saturday’s activities ended
with a lovely
Dinner / Dance event held at
Gallery 504 – San Diego.
The scene is an Old warehouse
look that has been converted into an Afrocentric Art Museum featuring
the works of many ethnic artists available for purchase.
If you are ever in San Diego you have to check them out.
The perfect atmosphere for us to “strut our stuff”.
Well we all know the Black culture has a certain flair and style
about us even without “hair freedom”.
Now just imagine a room full of “HAPPY
and NAPPY” sistas and
brothas with their “glad rags” on ……. All I can say is
WOW ..
Hm Hm Hm…. The scenery was just wonderful.
The dinner was great including a featured
eggplant dish that everyone just loved.
We were entertained by a gentleman doing comedy they had us (ROLF)
rolling on the floor laughing.
In addition a reading of Maya Angela’s
“Phenomenal Woman” given by 2 pre-teen sisters who sported their
Sisterlocks with a pride that caused the entire room to stand to their
feet. That’s right train a
child while they are young … and they will not have to experience the
hair woes we did.
We jammed to many genre of music
including Reggae, Old school, Salsa
and of course a “Soul Train” line topped the event and allowed
us
“Baby Boomers” to show we still had it Goin’ on!!!!
HEY
There
was a whole lotta hair slinging going on too.
